Surface Preparations
All grouting surfaces should be clean and free of foreign substances including any corrosion if present. Tile or stone must be firmly bonded to a sound substrate and setting material must be cured a minimum of 24 hours before grouting. Ensure that the grout joints are uniform in depth and width and free of excess mortar. Saturate area with clean potable water before grouting.
Material Application
For highly porous tile, lightly dampen with clean potable water before application of Unsanded Wall Grout. Do not leave any standing water in the joints. Using a rubber squeegee or rubber grout float, completely fill the joints. Remove any excess grout as work proceeds across the tiled area. Wash away grout residue with a damp sponge within 20 minutes of initial application, with a final clean finish with a semi-dry cloth when the joints have dried and hardened 2-3 hours later. Make sure any sponges or cloths are clean and free from contamination. Do not leave any excess water remaining on the cleaned surface.
Mixing
Blend with 4.5-5 (4.25-4.7 liters) quarts cool clean potable water for every 25 lb. bag. DO NOT OVER-WATER.
Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes and then re-mix before use.
When installing more than 1 bag at a time, blend dry the powders together prior to mixing with water.
Curing
The curing time is affected by ambient and surface temperatures, along with humidity. It is recommended to have 3 days of damp curing to control the non-shrink characteristics and maintain strength. For exterior applications, protect from rain, snow, and other wet conditions for at least 7 days.
